The midrange everyone starts from: 6.5"/16.5 cm, 96 dB, a 25 Oz ferrite motor and a solid aluminium phase plug. It carries the voice and the guitars over the bass, without shouting. Sold as a pair.

Why this midrange
Three decibels of sensitivity are worth double the amplifier. At 96 dB a 120 W channel is already a lot of sound inside a car.
A solid aluminium plug in the centre of the cone: it keeps the response clean off-axis and pulls heat away from the voice coil.
Compressed paper with fiberglass, black painted. Light enough to stay fast, rigid enough not to bend at high volume.
165 mm nominal, 4 ohm, M-ROLL polycotton surround: it replaces the factory speaker in most doors without adapting anything.

Complete the system
Before you install it
- Do not go below 4 ohm per channel. Two speakers in parallel on one channel give 2 ohm: most amplifiers will heat up or go into protection.
- Use a high-pass filter. This is a midrange, not a woofer: cut below 100 Hz and let the subwoofer do the bass. Feeding it low notes is the fastest way to damage it.
- Set the gain with your ears off. Clipping kills voice coils far more often than power does.
- Seal the door panel. A midrange in an open door loses mid-bass: sound-deaden the panel and you gain more than changing the speaker.
